Oral boluses with calcium, magnesium, phosphate and energy (vegetable lipids) for dairy cows
DESCRIPTION: Oral calcium or other nutrients provide immediate and sustained releases for dairy cows. Milk fever or parturient paresis is a metabolic disorder caused by a state of acute hypocalcemia (deficiency of calcium) in the blood. It may occur in dairy cows during the calving period. The lactation increases calcium, magnesium, phosphate, energy (lipids) and other needs.
RATIONAL TREATMENT: Oral administration of readily absorbed calcium salts is one major treatment to milk fever. Calcium solution, paste or gel products may be used. However they have negative aspects such as large volumes and rejection by the cows to partial waste. They also have the risk of aspiration pneumonia.
BOLUS FEATURES: (1) Deliver more calcium; (2) Prevent waste over gel or paste products; (3) Stable without melting and gelling problems over other bolus and paste products at warm or freezing temperatures and (4) Rounded end for ease of administration.
CalStick Calcium: The mixture of calcium, propionate, chloride and carbonate provides fast and slow calcium releases for treating or preventing milk fever of dairy cows. Each small solid bolus (1" diameter and 5" length) contains 25g of calcium. Each large solid bolus (1.25" diameter and 5" length) with solid vegetable lipid coating contains 50g of calcium.
Product # Diameter Calcium (g)
CS – 101 1" 23
CS – 181 1.25" 46
CalStick Phosphate: The solid bolus has phosphate. (Product : CS – 103 and CS – 183)
CalStick Magnesium: The solid bolus has magnesium. (Product : CS – 105 and CS – 185)
CalStick Energy: The solid bolus has vegetable lipids. (Product : CS – 108 and CS – 188)
DOSAGE and ADMINISTRATION: Boluses are individually sealed to ensure stability. Remove cover and place the rounded end toward the cow and administer the boluses by a balling gun. After administration, allow the cow free access to drinking water, which dissolves calcium.
Supportive treatment: Oral administration to a dairy cow one bolus prior to or immediately after calving and another bolus at 6-12 hours after calving. More boluses if necessary
Prevention: one bolus at 2-6 hours prior to calving and another bolus at 6-12 hours after calving. More boluses if necessary
RECOMMENDATION: The calcium boluses are stored at 45-105 degree F. Open the sealed cover just prior to use. Moisture affects the boluses.
CAUTION: For use in animals only. Keep out of reach of children.
Customer Boluses: Formulations may be adjusted according to customers’ needs with special ingredients.
If you are in interented in our balling gun and bolus products, making your contract boluses or become our distributor(s) in your country/area, please contact us.
BALLING GUNS:
Our plastic balling guns have double springs to hold solid boluses. The balling guns have 22" length and are resistant to acid, base and high salt conditions.

BOLUS PRODUCTS:
CalStick Calcium
CalStick Phosphate
CalStick Magnesium
CalStick Energy
There are two sizes of boluses, diameters of 1 and 1.25. Solid vegetable lipid coating is applied for all boluses with the diameter of 1 .25". There are two options with or whitout vegetable coating for the boluses with the diameter of 1".
We also do contract production according to customers' needs.
