      Solid Molasses from Liquid Molasses

Molasses is a sugar liquid byproduct such as cane, beet, soy, starch, citrus or lactose molasses. After sugar processes, molasses has no capacity to be crystallized into solid sugar by further crytallization. Molasses is a viscous, sticky, hydrophilic and hygoscopic liquid. Cold molasses epecially causes resistance to flow. The used pipelines, valves and fittings are larger than usually used for other liquids. In wintertime storage, molasses is kept warm in storage tanks. It costs more heat energy to keep warm before applications.

Molasses has been used as nutrient of available carbohydrates (energy source) and sweeter. For feed application, liquid molasses  can be mixd with a carrier such as soybean hull at high level such as 55 % and dried and cooled down to form a solid molases product in a dry form at such as 45 % molasses for nutritional application. The carrier such as soybean hull have low nutritional value.  Molasses can be cooked and cooled down into another solid molasses product. But the two solid molasses products are still hydrophilic and hygoscopic.

We have developed two patented processes to convert liquid molasses into non-sticky and free-flowable solid molasses with encapsulation or improved hydrophobic property. The solid molasses products are free-flowable and easy to be delivered and applied. Product samples are available.
